Premature Ejeculation: Causes and Treatments

Premature ejaculation is defined as the involuntary ejaculation of the penis before or after penetration in men.

This condition is common among men and often brings psychological distress. According to the results of the studies, one out of every 3 people on average faces the problem of premature ejaculation throughout their life.

As it is a common ailment, the question of what causes premature ejaculation is always on the agenda of men. Although there is no clear definition of it, the diagnosis can be made in the recurrence of the following specific conditions:

  • If you are avoiding sexual intercourse due to anxiety and stress,
  • If you experience pre-penetrating ejaculation during sex,
  • If you ejaculate within an average of 1 minute from the start of vaginal penetration during almost every sexual intercourse,

Premature ejaculation is basically due to various psychological and biological causes. In addition, the events you experience during the day or in your business life can also trigger it. Like many men with this disorder, you may be afraid to experience and share it. However, it is not an insoluble health problem as it is common.

Factors Causing Premature Ejaculation

Before learning the premature ejaculation causes, it will be useful to know its types.

Basically, it is examined under two separate headings as lifelong premature ejaculation and acquired premature ejaculation. Primary premature ejaculation may happen after your first sexual experience and may continue throughout your life. Studies show that the incidence rate is around 3% in our country.

Secondary, that is, acquired premature ejaculation, is more common in society. While the cause of this type of premature ejaculation is usually psychological or hormonal, it is known that other sexual health problems can also cause this condition.

These can often appear as psychological causes that lead to premature ejaculation:

  • Your sexual inexperience
  • Your performance anxiety
  • Your negative attitude towards your body
  • A relationship you just started
  • Stress in your relationship
  • Your overexcitement
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

These factors may affect you at some point in your life, even if you have had a normal premature ejaculation before, and you may experience it again. In addition, it should not be forgotten that this issue, which lasts for life, may be due to traumas seen at an early age.

If you are experiencing premature ejaculation for a physiological reason, it is mostly due to your hormones and nervous system-related diseases, if any. Testosterone deficiency, thyroid and pituitary gland disorders are among the hormonal factors. In addition, studies show that men with erectile dysfunction due to diabetes also experience premature ejaculation. It is seen among other sexual function problems in people with multiple sclerosis.

Medication: Oral medications are commonly preferred in the treatment of premature ejaculation. Medicines called Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor are taken once a day and the effect is usually observed within 10 days. However, these tablets also have side effects such as fatigue, sweating, and nausea, so applying them continuously may force you. In addition, there are also drugs that are used only a few hours before sexual intercourse.

Regular exercise: Studies on the pelvic floor muscles have an effect on premature ejaculation. With this practice that you can apply in almost anywhere, at any time of the day, you can prevent ejaculation when you do contraction before ejaculation during sexual activity.

Creams and Sprays: Creams and sprays containing local anesthetics are also considered to prevent premature ejaculation. If you apply these products to your penis before sex, you will experience a loss of sensation for a certain period of time. Unlike medicines, it does not have side effects, but it can prevent you from having an orgasm depending on the amount of use. In addition, choosing some special condoms has the same effect and can stop your premature ejaculation.

Sex education: Another method to prevent premature ejaculation is sex therapy, the main purpose of which is to prolong the duration of foreplay. This method, which includes techniques called "stop-start" and "squeeze", requires a repetitive training process over several weeks. In this way, penile stimulation can be reduced and ejaculation can be delayed.

Injections to Glans: This treatment method is generally proper for people with high penis sensitivity. The filler contains hyaluronic acid. It is applied with a procedure that takes an average of 1 hour without the use of anesthesia. There is no harm to your body. After the filler is injected under the dermis layer at the glans penis, your sensitivity in the area will decrease and you can find a solution to your premature ejaculation problem. It is a method that needs to be repeated after a certain period of time.

After ejaculation once in men, a certain period of time must pass for its repetition. Premature ejaculation is also seen among women, but due to female physiology, it is possible to have "multiple orgasms" and therefore this does not pose a significant problem for them.
